If there’s one thing the Japanese excel at, it’s reimagining heritage designs through their own distinct vision. That philosophy resonates deeply with the folks at Gitman Vintage, which is why they’re so often drawn to Japanese-woven fabrics.
In this case, their partner mill has taken houndstooth, the iconic Scottish textile, and reinterpreted it at a reduced scale that almost presents as a textured solid. The result is a fabric that works beautifully as a tonal, textural layer or on its own. Medium-gauge, high-spin yarns give the motif crisp definition, while a light brushing raises the fibers just enough to create a soft, comfortable hand.
Scottish tradition, Japanese sensibility, and American craftsmanship all converge. We love collaborations.
